How to Update a Request if an Approver Asked for an Update
Depending on the request type, approvers can ask an approver for an update on the activity and/or recipient.
Update Requested Email
If an approver requests an update, the submitter (and any editor collaborators) will receive an email containing the following:
- Who requested the update
- Comment from the requesting approver
- The request ID (and link)

How to Tell if the Request is Pending an Update
First, open the request.
What the Submitter sees: If the approver asks for an update on the activity, the Submitter will see the Submit Activity button in the top corner.
Note: If a submitter initiates an update without the approver asking, the system will display Submit Activity until they resubmit it.

What the Approver or Admin sees: If the approver asks for an update on the activity, an Update Pending icon will appear in the top right corner.
Note: If a submitter initiates an update without the approver asking, the status will also be Update Pending until they resubmit it.

What the Submitter/Approver/Admin sees: If the approver asks for an update on the recipient, the recipient status will be Update Pending.
Note: If a submitter initiates an update without the approver asking, the status will also be Update Pending until they resubmit it.

Request History and Approver Flow
By clicking on the Approver Flow, the system will display a Black Circle with a Return Arrow to indicate that an approver has requested an update. It's now up to the submitter to update and resubmit the request.
Note: The Black Return Arrow is always displayed at the current approval step. If your organization requires the request to restart the approval flow upon update, then the Black Return Arrow will move back to the current step. If your organization does not require the approver flow to restart, then the Black Return Arrow will display at the step in which the approver asked for an update.

The Request History contains details of the approver who requested an update and any related comments.

Updating the Request Activity
After the submitter makes the requested updates, the submitter must resubmit the request by clicking Submit Activity.

Updating a Recipient
After the submitter makes the requested updates, the submitter must resubmit the recipient by one of the following methods:
- Click the Check Box(es) next to the recipient's Name and select Submit from the action bar that appears above the Recipient's table.
- Click the Gray Icon on the right, which contains three dots, and select Submit from the dropdown list.
